Helen GA Retreat-20090319
What you get when cross a coach, a scientist, a banker, an insurance salesman, an insurance underwriter, a contractor, a lender, and a equipment salesman? We don’t remember either. It’ funny though. My camera had these pictures on it when I got home.
A Walk In The Park-20090207
A Walk In The Park is great thing. It’s free. Its outside. It usually smells better than the stale indoors. What do you have to lose? Check Out These Pics!
Halloween in Atlanta
What do an Elvis impersonator, a viking, Chad from Alltel, and a Pirate Wench have in common? A wild hallopween party in Atlanta.
A crazy cabbie dropped us off around 7:30p. For some reason sangria replaced captain morgan and Dr. Pepper and that’s precisely when things got fuzzy. I do remember J.Lo a USO girl, Brett Michaels, and Flav-o-flav getting into conversation about globalization. Kinda weird. Actually really weird.
The party was fun. I lost my wig but that was expected.
Amber and April out lived Kenn and I.
Today was rough until we piled into Atlantic Station and grabbed some lunch. One plate of chicken fried chicken later and iwas feeling much better.
Pictures to follow!
Labor Day at the Lake
Spending the day at Clarks Hill is a fantastic way to relax! We had a blast. Here are a few pics you can chew on.
Just Back From Beautiful St. Thomas
We learned to
- Survive a predominantly “Local” grocery store (1 of 3 on the island)
- Buy a bag of pretzels for $6 and a 1/2 gallon of milk for $5
- Beep like an airport taxi driver
- How to Karaoke (Japanese word for OFF KEY)
- Drive on the wrong side of the road
- Pray when riding with local cab drivers
- Find the best beaches
- Take it easy for a day or two
- Eat more than we drink
- And just chill
I Really Was Afraid
I really was afraid to go out to eat Tuesday night. The day I had was just awful. I don’t mean that in a sly, get you to read my thoughts, kind of way. I mean it was really awful. Read the next post for more details…
Nothing goes together like salt & pepper… except maybe pizza and beer.
Wii Love to Bowl
Wii love to bowl! April got Kenn a Wii for Christmas and honestly bowling rocks! Last Friday night, we bowled like we were on the league. Hell, like we were the champions of the league. The only things missing were the chili dogs and the cheap draft beer. April pulled out a surprising win or two and made me feel like I got “Munsoned“. I fantasized about being “Big Earn McCrackin” from King Pin. Amber and Kenn seemed to bowl as if it were second nature to them. And I had a very disappointing night in the lanes not even breaking a 200. It’s tough to win on the Wii circuit. Winning means bragging rights for the next full week. As you can see here, April is a natural. Look at that form. That poise. That Championship finishing stance… Well you get the picture.
Halloween Night
Halloween is here along with lots of candy and tummy aches. Goblins and Gouls take the place of little boys and girls and skeletons and witches come out of the darkness for this one time a year. Not to mention little pirates. Especially girl pirates! Aaaaarrrrggh!
Gabby wasn’t nearly as tired as mom and dad…she didn’t walk much either. She did have a great time. By the last house she had gotten used to the idea, but still wouldn’t say trick-or-treat.
Auntie, Auntie
Explaining the bond between Gabby and April would be about as easie as jump starting a 747 with a gazoo. They shop together, try on clothes, chat on the way home from school, and auntie knows she’s always on the hook for whatever Gabby can throw her way (that’s alot).
Gabby and April have this, understanding. It’s not spoken. It goes beyond promises and presents. Now that Gabby is talking more and more she is constantly asking for “Aple”. With a chiming “where-are-u?”, Gabby runs around the house looking for her. Then after about 5 to 10 minutes of looking, Gabby determines that where ever “Aple” is she is probably “seeping”.
I told you she knows her auntie April better than most! Seriously, there is a closeness there that cannot be explained. I suppose that’s why so much can be packed into the word LOVE.
Secret Places
It’s those secret places we find that live on in our memories for ever. Gabby and I trekked out on a whim this morning to a local community park. Little did we know that we would find such a gem tucked away in the woods a little off the beaten path.
We would love to tell you where it is, but that would spoil the secret. Right? Well, maybe we will invite you on a picnic and then you can find out where it is.
When I was a little boy, my friends and I found a secret place. We named it limesink pond. It had vine swings and fallen trees and plenty of mystery. We devised ghost stories and endless legends. I hope Gabby and I can find lots of these places as she continues to grow.

It all began at 5am on Tuesday Morning. The rest is coming soon…
