So…i’m just going to be honest…that part from Joshua was really difficult for me to follow, especially with my ADHD…i needed a map! BUT when I read Luke it came together! I feel like this scripture really hit home, especially after our discussion at Bible study last night. Correct me if I’m completely wrong (b/c I might be…), but I feel like the parable is basically telling us that we need to use what God has given us to the best of our ability and to serve our purpose He has for us. If we do not use these gifts that he has given us and keep them for ourselves, God will take them away from us. If we do use our gifts to serve His purpose, then we will be rewarded. I also interpreted this parable as…we must remain faithful stewards of the Lord, rather than doing what we always want to do with our lives. If we do what we want, rather than want God wants us to do, we will not receive the comfort that He wants to give us. If we do honor God by doing the things he has called us to do, rather than satisfying ourselves, than He will reward us with comfort and happiness. I find this to be VERY difficult at times, b/c I do not always want to do what I know God is telling me to do, but I want to do what I want to do. But I know that in the end, relinquishing that control is the right thing. p.s. was this blog title a tribute to “Friends”? hehe!
