A Miracle In Psalms Today

Writing about what I read in the Bible is more than writing about the words that are in the passages my eyes make contact with. It’s more about how what I read is relative to my life today. How the Word speaks to me about the things going on in my life is why I love reading it each day. Today Psalms 77 is no different.

Several months ago, my dad’s dog was diagnosed by his vet with having very large growths on his liver. The vet basically told my dad that all that could be done was to love him because there was nothing else that could save his dog. My dad and I prayed together for J.R. (jaytooty as he is affectionately known).

Reading Psalm 77 today, I’m reminded of what my dad was going through. He was devistated, but he kept the Lord at the center of the situation with prayer. My dad cried out to the Lord, putting God’s will first. He did all these things yet my Pop was heart broken. He understood what it meant to lose his daily companion that has been through the last 10 years with him. Unfortunately, I had a similar experience with Chase and Butler that didn’t turn out so good for me.

Our God loves us, knows what we need, and is always there. Does that mean that if someone doesn’t receive the miracle of life as a second chance that he didn’t love them? I say no. Because I believe they did receive a miracle. As believers, they received the miracle of eternal life with God if they passed from this world.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV)

What’s that Got to Do With Your Dad’s Dog?

J.R. went to the vet for a check up a couple of days ago. The vet was surprised to report that there was no sign of the sickness anymore. The vet gave J.R. a clean bill of health. Pop, told the vet it was the power of prayer and the vet agreed wholeheartedly!

It may seem strange for some people to pray for a dog. The Lord says to come to him boldly and ask. He also says:

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20 NIV)

That being said, if there is ever a time that any of you need to pray with someone, I will be there if I can.

Today’s Question

Where in my life have I neglected to use the Power of Prayer that God has granted me?
